Welcome To Paratea Preschool
We acknowledge the traditional owners of this land the Bunurong people, past, present and future. We promise to care for the land, skies and waterways where we live, learn and play. We promise to look after our friends and all other people and nature while we live, learn and play on these lands as Bunjil would like.
On March 2nd 1974 a plaque was unveiled by his worship The Mayor of the City of Frankston, Councillor C.L Falkiner, J.P, to commemorate the official opening of Paratea Preschool (City of Frankston proclaimed 1966). The Aboriginal word Paratea means ‘pretty flowers’ which describes the Paratea Reserve that surrounds the preschool perfectly. The Paratea Preschool Committee approved a new logo in 2012, the logo was designed to represent the location of our preschool reflecting the pretty flowers and natural surroundings. The embracing branches represent nurture, growth and the natural changes of our children’s learning.
Paratea Preschool is located in Frankston South surrounded by untouched bushland, including the Paratea Reserve. We are a non-profit, community based preschool run by a volunteer parent committee. Since 1974 Paratea has provided a vibrant, flexible and inquisitive educational program to local children.
“The wider the range of possibilities we offer children, the more intense will be their motivations and the richer their experiences”
